Home of the Wildcats!
STEM at West Sedona School
West Sedona School was the second school in Arizona to earn AdvancED (now Cognia) STEM Accreditation during the 2017–2018 school year. Our dedicated teachers integrate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) into their daily instruction, enriching student learning through engaging, hands-on experiences.
Hands-on Exploration
Students explore STEM concepts through the Engineering is Elementary (EiE) curriculum units in the classroom, weekly STEM special classes, and real-world projects in collaboration with community partners such as Friends of the Forest and the U.S. Forest Service. Our Wildcat Extended Day Program further supports STEM learning through hands-on kits and partnerships with organizations such as Gardens for Humanity and Science Vortex.
STEM Partners
Our commitment to STEM excellence extends to our educators, who engage in ongoing professional development through partnerships with the Arizona Science Center, the Arizona Department of Education, and the Boston Museum of Science’s Engineering is Elementary program.
At West Sedona School, we don’t just teach STEM—we live it. Go, Wildcats!
Makerspace
Our school proudly houses a 2,000-square-foot MakerSpace—a dynamic, workshop-like environment where students can explore and create using tools such as
- 3D printers;
- a full LEGOWall;
- robotics kits;
- computer hardware;
- puzzles; and
- a 49-foot aluminum Pinewood Derby race track!
Students in grades 3–5 also receive opportunities to learn coding and develop 21st-century technology skills.
Technology
As a 1:1 technology district, every student at West Sedona School has access to their own Chromebook. Our classrooms are equipped with interactive smart monitors; we utilize Google Classroom to support digital learning.
